How To Cook Pomfret Fish Curry

INGREDIENTS

    • 1 pomfret fish.
    • 1 teaspoon ginger paste.
    • 2 teaspoons garlic paste.
    • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds.
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin.
    • Salt (to taste).
    • 1 teaspoon turmeric.
    • 1 teaspoon ground coriander.
    • 1 teaspoon red chile powder.
    • chopped onions.
    • 2 tomatoes (blanch and peel, chopped).
    • 4 teaspoons oil.
    • 750 litres hot water.
    • 250 cilantro.
    • 2 teaspoons lemon juice.
    METHOD OF COOKING:
    • Marinade pomfret medium pieces with salt and turmeric powder. Keep aside for half an hour.
    • In hot water, add garlic and ginger paste, cumin powder, coriander powder. Keep aside.
    • In a pan add 2 teaspoon oil and fry the pieces over medium heat both sides till crisp. Keep aside.
    • In another pan, add 2 teaspoon oil. Do not use the same oil in which you fry the fish. Add mustard seeds, let it sizzle. Add chopped onion till golden brown. Red chilli powder, turmeric powder, fennel seed powder. Add chopped tomatoes. Mix well for 4 minutes till tomatoes soft.
    • Add hot water mixture into it and simmer for 15 minutes at low heat. When gravy gets thick , add fried fish and simmer further for 5 minutes. When perfectly done, Add salt to taste and sprinkle cilantro and lemon juice just before serving.
    • Serve with rice.
